Q. What hours is the dog wash open?
A. The dog wash opens every morning at 6 AM and closes at 12 Midnight.
Q. It's getting cold out, is the dog wash heated? How about the water?
Yes, it is getting colder, and what a time NOT to wash a pet in the backyard! The dog wash itself is climate controlled at a nice temperature that won't make you hot as you are washing. The water is also heated and adjusted seasonally. After running for a couple of seconds you should find the water temperature is right around 70 degrees.
A. An average dog can be washed and dried for around five to ten dollars. It varies by dog size, what kind of coat, time of year (shedding), and how dirty your dog is. Most customers find that they get faster after their first visit as they develop a "system" for getting their dog clean. Consider purchasing tokens online for your next wash to save even more money.
Q. Do you accept credit cards?
A. At this time we do not. The dog wash accepts quarters, tokens, or bills ($1, $5, $10, $20). There is a change machine located in the Laundromat next door if needed, but not a bill breaker.
Q. Do I need to bring anything with me?
A. You need to have a collar on your pet so you can secure them during the wash. This is primarily for their safety so they don't try to jump out of the tub, but it also makes the job a lot easier if they stay in one place! Some customers will bring along a brush to remove loose hair (especially during shedding season) before starting to wash.
Q. My dog is huge, my dog is tiny, my "dog" is really a cat - will I have a problem washing them?
A. Some dogs, regardless of size, are hesitant on their first visit. Some coaching or treats may be helpful in getting them to cooperate. If it's your first visit - bring a friend, they make for great helpers and can keep your pet distracted while you get to work. While they aren't common, it is fine to wash a cat - just be mindful of other customers that may be arriving with dogs. A weekday would be the best time to bring a cat as the dog wash is not as busy.
Q. Do I need to clean up after the wash?
A. The next customer will appreciate if you take a minute and rinse down the tub and put the hair in the trash can when you are finished. You don't need to clean up the floor - that is done throughout the day. If your pet has an accident in the tub, on the floor or outside - please be sure to clean up after them. There is a grocery bag holder inside the dog wash for just such an occasion.
Q. Why isn't the dryer hot?
A. The dual speed dryer is not like a hair dryer you may have at home. The air is heated above room temperature but it will not reach temperatures as hot as what a hair dryer for humans will. This is intentional to prevent drying out the dogs skin and coat. The dryer is designed to blow the water off in sheets by using air volume. If you have a dog with a particularly thick coat, some customers find it easier to use a towel first to remove the bulk of the water and then use the dryer to finish drying and blow off any loose hair. The dryer will definitely give your dog a nice "fluffy" coat when finished.
